Baltic Opera
On 15 February 1645 the first ever staging of an opera took place in Gdansk. Marco Scacchi’s opera 'Le Nozze d´Amore i di Psiche' is performed, with help from artists from the Royal Castle Theatre in Warsaw, to mark the occasion of Queen Ludovica Maria’s visit to Gdansk. The opera is staged in a 13th century building that used to house a fencing school, enlarged to 3,000 seats.
